An absolute treat, to be invited to explore the trial grounds of Mr Fothergill’s. I could have stayed all day, and returned the next, if I’d been allowed; but this was a special one-day-only invitation to see the secret garden behind the scenes of seed production. Here, in this eclectic and colourful garden every seed is tested and tried, to make sure that it’s fit for purpose and for market. It’s a new world to me, something I hadn’t known or thought about, but I’m glad to have been introduced to.
