There’s something quite otherworldly about The Shell Museum, nothing much has changed here in over a century. As your eyes adjust to the diffused light falling gently through the high windows onto cases filled with thousands of shells, like a giant cabinet of curiosities, it’s like stepping back in time. The building has no electricity and the opening hours are guided by the available daylight.
Purpose-built in 1915 by Sir Alfred Jodrell, in the tiny Norfolk village of Glandford, this is said to be the finest seashell collection in the UK. It’s very peaceful, rather beautiful, and I really recommend a visit.
