My train journey wasn’t a particularly exciting one. I did notice a lot of women wearing neon pink Nikes though.

I had a couple of hours to spare before a lunch meeting on the South Bank, so I decided to get there via Portobello Road (I know, it was totally off-route) and do a bit of ogling and exploring. The sun was shining and many people were running in different directions shouting ‘traffic warden!’

I spotted the most beautiful pair of candlesticks in Judy Fox’s window (top image). Bronze flamingos – black bodied birds stood on golden rocks with glorious crowns hung loosely round their necks. I popped in to find out the price. £1500. I offered her a kidney, but she politely declined.

Eventually I trotted off to the South Bank and ate a burrito in a shipping container.

Wahaca (the Mexican restaurant that I so loved in Covent Garden) have got an unusual little set up on the South Bank. Built from 8 repurposed shipping containers at the side of the Southbank Centre, The Wahaca Southbank Experiment is where they trial new dishes and drink a lot of tequila, I think.

I immediately ordered a Horchata to drink (almond and rice milk with cinnamon and lots of ice) and then decided on a Chicken Tinga Burrito.

To be honest, I was a little bit disappointed by the appearance of the food, and the service, but it was a delicious burrito and I was in very good company, so I was distracted, chatting away and planning projects with Jackie.

We also got to watch a small man hang a big rug over the railings and try to swing the dust off it into the Thames from our freezy cold shipping container window seat.
